Obverse: The current design on the obverse of the dime first appeared in 1946, soon after the death of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The Roosevelt dime was released on the late President's birthday which was January 30th of that year. FDR's left-facing bust was created by the Mint's Chief Engraver John R. Sinnock. Shortly after his death in 1945, citizens began writing to the Treasury Department requesting his likeness be depicted on a coin. The dime was a good choice because Roosevelt supported the March of Dimes, a program that raised funds for research to find a cure for polio. Roosevelt contracted the polio virus when he was 39 years old. Reverse: Mr. Sinnock also designed the reverse of this coin: a torch signifying Liberty, with an olive branch on the left signifying Peace, and an oak branch on the right, signifying Strength and Independence.

Plain Dime Coin Folder, no Dates by H.E.

H.E. Harris folder holds Roosevelt Dimes Plain - any date. This is a tri-fold folder that opens flat for all at once viewing with a total of 75 openings, then closes to book size for easy storage. You get to put your precious collection of dimes in the folder and customize it as you wish. All H.E. Harris folders are made of acid-free materials for the protection and storage of your coins. The holes in this folder have a special LOCK-IN feature. But first, a word of caution: always hold a coin by the edge and never touch its obverse or reverse. We recommend you wear gloves when pressing your coins into place. Now that you are ready, simply place the coin with one edge tipped into the hole, and then press the high edge downward and toward the lowered edge (slantwise). Feel the snap? It's locked in! The Roosevelt dime honors Franklin D. Roosevelt, who founded the March of Dimes campaign to fight polio and was himself a victim of the diease. Dimes produced from 1946 through 1964 are composed of 90% silver and 10% copper. A dewindling supply of silver brought about the Coinage Act of 1965, which athorized clad coinage - coins made of a copper-nickel layer bonded to a copper core. Dimes produced since 1965 are clad. A great gift idea for any Coin Collector!

This set has never been opened. Be the first to see these brilliant uncircualted coins. The 2002 Mint Set was first available for sale from the United States Mint on June 12, 2002. Once again the sets would include a total of 20 different coins from the Philadelphia and Denver Mints. For this year, there were no 2002 Sacagawea Dollars struck for circulation. Despite the government's best efforts, the coins failed to achieve significant circulation and the large production from the previous two years had accumulated in Federal Reserve Bank vaults. From this year onwards, the US Mint struck only a limited number of the $1 coins for placement into the annual sets or direct sales to collectors in bags and rolls. Other coins included in the 2002 Mint Set were the Kennedy Half Dollar, Roosevelt Dime, Jefferson Nickel, and Lincoln Cent. The State Quarters issued for this year featured Tennessee, Ohio, Louisiana, Indiana, and Mississippi. For each coin, examples from both the Philadelphia and Denver Mint were included.

The Matthew Mint Roosevelt Dime Bracelet

The Matthew Mint Roosevelt Dime

This beautiful silver toned bracelet is embedded with a Roosevelt Dime. The Roosevelt dime is the current dime, or ten-cent piece, of the United States. The dime was initially struck by the United States Mint in 1946 and continues to be produced today. The coin displays President Franklin D. Roosevelt on the obverse and was authorized soon after his death in 1945. The coin replaced the Mercury Dime without congressional approval even though the Art Commision criticized the change. Since its introduction, the Roosevelt dime has been struck continuously in large numbers and is one of the most recognizable United States' coin. This beautiful bracelet would be the perfect gift for any holiday or avid coin collector.

1962 P & D Mint Set Coins Uncirculated

1962 P & D Mint Set Coins

Great original set which includes uncirculated coins produced at the Philadelphia and Denver Mints: 2 silver halfs, 2 silver quarters, 2 silver dimes, 2 nickels and 2 pennys. Great set. On hand and ships immediately. Some information on the 1962 set as published by the Mint Set Guide: Starting this year, the United States Mint's uncirculated coin sets began to experience a sharp increase in demand, which would continue until the brief suspension of the product line. The 1962 Mint Set recorded total sales of 385,285, an increase of more than 160,000 from the prior year. It's worth noting that just a decade earlier, sales had broken through the 10,000 barrier for the first time. Each set included examples of the five denominations issued for circulation from the two mint facilities in operation. The coins included the Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Washington Quarter, and Franklin Half Dollar. The examples struck at Philadelphia did not contain a mint mark, while the examples struck at Denver carried the "D" mint mark. It's worth noting that this year the 1962 Franklin Half Dollar represents a significant conditional rarity. Examples of the coin from the Philadelphia Mint are rarely encountered in gem condition with full bell lines. Collectors are advised to check ...

That Man: An Insider's Portrait of Franklin D. Roosevelt

That Man: An Insider's Portrait of Franklin D.

Robert H. Jackson was one of the giants of the Roosevelt era: an Attorney General, a still revered Supreme Court Justice and, not least important, one of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's close friends and advisers. His intimate memoir of FDR, written in the early 1950s before Jackson's untimely death, has remained unpublished for fifty years. Here is that newly discovered memoir. Written with skill and grace, this is truly a unique account of the personality, conduct, greatness of character, and common humanity of "that man in the White House," as outraged conservatives called FDR. Jackson simply but eloquently provides an insider's view of Roosevelt's presidency, including such crucial events as FDR's Court-packing plan, his battles with corporate America, his decision to seek a third term, and his bold move to aid Britain in 1940 with American destroyers. He also offers an intimate personal portrait of Roosevelt--on fishing trips, in late-night poker games, or approving legislation while eating breakfast in bed, where he routinely began his workday. We meet a president who is far-sighted but nimble in attacking the problems at hand; principled but flexible; charismatic and popular but unafraid to pick fights, take stands, and when necessary, make enemies. That Man is not simply a v...
